About our pharmacy

Your local, independent pharmacy — now Hoxton Clinic.

Spring Pharmacy has served Hoxton and Shoreditch since 1987. Our ear health clinic brings that same face-to-face care to blocked, muffled or uncomfortable ears: a proper look inside first, an honest answer on whether wax is actually the problem, and gentle removal if it is.

No GP referral, no waiting weeks for a nurse appointment. Book online or call, and if we can't help, we'll tell you who can.

How it works

Four steps, about twenty minutes.

Everything happens in one appointment, in our private consultation room, with a clinician who explains what they're doing as they go.

Initial consultation

A private, unhurried appointment with a pharmacist. We take a full medical and medicines history, measure your weight, height and BMI, and talk honestly about what you want to achieve.
Around 30 minutes · fee confirmed at booking

Eligibility assessment

We check you against NICE criteria and rule out anything that would make clinical weight management unsuitable. If it isn't right for you, we'll say so and suggest what might help instead.
Included

Your treatment options

If you're eligible, your pharmacist explains the options available to you, how they work, the commitment involved and any side effects — so you can make an informed choice. Nothing is decided by a calculator or a form.
Discussed at consultation

Nutrition & lifestyle plan

Practical, realistic guidance on eating, movement and sleep that fits your life, not a crash diet. This underpins everything else we do.
Included

Regular reviews

Scheduled check-ins to track progress, adjust your plan and manage any side effects. You'll always see a pharmacist, not a chatbot.
Review fee confirmed at booking

Ongoing support

Questions between appointments? Call or message the pharmacy and a member of the team will get back to you.
Included

Not sure whether it's wax? Book anyway — the ear check is free, and if wax isn't the problem we'll point you to the right help rather than charge you for a removal you don't need.

Before and after

What microsuction actually clears

A blocked ear canal next to a clear one. Your clinician looks in with a microscope and gently lifts the wax out with a fine suction tube — no water, no syringing. Many people notice a difference straight away, though results vary.

The images above are illustrations, not photographs of a patient. Results vary from person to person — how much wax is there on the day decides how much difference you notice, and occasionally a second visit is needed for very hard wax.

Frequently asked questions

Ear wax removal in Hoxton — your questions answered.

Straight answers on what microsuction involves, how to prepare and what to expect. Can't see your question? Call us or ask at your appointment.

What is microsuction?

A gentle method of removing ear wax using a small suction device under direct vision, without water or syringing. Both ears are checked with an otoscope first.

Do I need to use drops beforehand?

Softening drops for a few days before your appointment usually make removal quicker and more comfortable. We'll tell you what to use when you book.

Does it hurt?

Most people find it comfortable. You may notice the sound of the suction. If anything is uncomfortable, tell the clinician and they will stop.

How long does it take?

Around 20 minutes for both ears, including the check.
