Not sure whether it's wax? Book anyway — the ear check is free, and if wax isn't the problem we'll point you to the right help rather than charge you for a removal you don't need.
What microsuction actually clears
A blocked ear canal next to a clear one. Your clinician looks in with a microscope and gently lifts the wax out with a fine suction tube — no water, no syringing. Many people notice a difference straight away, though results vary.
One Hoxton pharmacy, everything under one roof.
Ear wax removal runs from our private consultation room at Spring Pharmacy on Hoxton Street — a few minutes' walk from Hoxton Overground and Old Street station.
The people who'll look after your ears.
Ear appointments at Hoxton Clinic are carried out by Shereen, our trained pharmacy technician, with Mitul, our GPhC-registered Superintendent Pharmacist, clinically responsible for the service.
Ear wax removal in Hoxton — your questions answered.
Straight answers on what microsuction involves, how to prepare and what to expect. Can't see your question? Call us or ask at your appointment.
What is microsuction?
A gentle method of removing ear wax using a small suction device under direct vision, without water or syringing. Both ears are checked with an otoscope first.
Do I need to use drops beforehand?
Softening drops for a few days before your appointment usually make removal quicker and more comfortable. We'll tell you what to use when you book.
Does it hurt?
Most people find it comfortable. You may notice the sound of the suction. If anything is uncomfortable, tell the clinician and they will stop.
How long does it take?
Around 20 minutes for both ears, including the check.
