Am I eligible?

A quick, honest guide before you book.

We follow NICE thresholds: clinical weight management is normally considered from a BMI of 30, or 27 with a weight-related condition. Estimate yours below — a pharmacist confirms everything at your consultation.

Check whether a consultation may be worth it

Move the sliders to estimate your BMI. This is a starting point for the conversation, not a decision.

Estimated BMI
32.9Obesity range
18.52530

BMI is a rough measure. It does not account for muscle, body composition or ethnicity, and it is only ever one part of the picture.

What this suggestsWorth discussing

On these numbers alone, a weight management consultation may be worth booking. What we can offer depends on your medical history, your current medicines and a proper assessment with a pharmacist.

This is a guide only. It does not replace a clinical assessment and nothing is supplied on the basis of a calculator.

Face to face vs online

What's different about seeing a pharmacist in person.

Online services suit some people. Here's what you get when your assessment and reviews happen in a room with a pharmacist you can talk to.

Online pharmacies are also regulated by the GPhC and their services vary. This table describes how our service is delivered; it makes no claim about the outcomes or safety of any other provider. Treatment options are only discussed after an in-person assessment.

What's included

A service, not a transaction.

Every part of the programme is pharmacist-led and face to face. You pay for consultations and reviews; anything supplied after assessment is discussed and priced with you in person.

Initial consultation

A private, unhurried appointment with a pharmacist. We take a full medical and medicines history, measure your weight, height and BMI, and talk honestly about what you want to achieve.
Around 30 minutes · fee confirmed at booking

Eligibility assessment

We check you against NICE criteria and rule out anything that would make clinical weight management unsuitable. If it isn't right for you, we'll say so and suggest what might help instead.
Included

Your treatment options

If you're eligible, your pharmacist explains the options available to you, how they work, the commitment involved and any side effects — so you can make an informed choice. Nothing is decided by a calculator or a form.
Discussed at consultation

Nutrition & lifestyle plan

Practical, realistic guidance on eating, movement and sleep that fits your life, not a crash diet. This underpins everything else we do.
Included

Regular reviews

Scheduled check-ins to track progress, adjust your plan and manage any side effects. You'll always see a pharmacist, not a chatbot.
Review fee confirmed at booking

Ongoing support

Questions between appointments? Call or message the pharmacy and a member of the team will get back to you.
Included

Not sure whether it's for you? Use the eligibility guide above or book a consultation — an honest 'not yet' is a perfectly good outcome, and we'll still send you away with a plan.

Frequently asked questions

Weight management in Hoxton — your questions answered.

Straight answers on eligibility, what happens at your appointment and why we can't list treatments online. Can't see your question? Call us or ask at your consultation.

Who is eligible for pharmacist-led weight management?

Adults aged 18 and over with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more alongside a weight-related health condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnoea. Lower thresholds may apply for people from some ethnic backgrounds. Eligibility is always confirmed by a pharmacist at your consultation, never by an online calculator.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book a private consultation directly with Hoxton Clinic. With your permission we will let your GP know about any treatment you start so your records stay joined up.

What happens at the first appointment?

Around 30 minutes, in a private consultation room. We measure your weight, height and BMI, take a full medical and medicines history, talk about your goals and check whether clinical weight management is suitable for you. If it is, your pharmacist will explain the options available and what each involves.

Why don't you list treatments or prices on this website?

Weight-loss medicines are prescription-only, and UK law does not allow them to be advertised to the public. We can only discuss specific treatments and their costs face to face once a pharmacist has assessed you. Consultation and review fees are confirmed when you book.

How much weight will I lose?

We can't and won't promise a number. Results vary from person to person and depend on the treatment, your starting point and the lifestyle changes you make alongside it. Your pharmacist will talk through realistic expectations with you at your consultation.

Is it safe, and what about side effects?

Every option we offer is licensed in the UK and only supplied after a clinical assessment. All treatments can have side effects, which your pharmacist will explain before you decide, and we monitor you at regular reviews. If something isn't suiting you, we'll adjust the plan.

What if I'm not eligible?

We'll tell you honestly. A healthy-weight patient will never be offered clinical treatment. If your BMI is below the threshold we can still help with nutrition and lifestyle advice, or signpost you to NHS services or your GP if that's more appropriate.

Where are you?

Spring Pharmacy, 233–235 Hoxton Street, London N1 5LG — a few minutes' walk from Hoxton Overground and Old Street station. Open Monday to Friday 9am–6pm and Saturday 9am–5:30pm.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Consultations take place in a private room and your records are held under pharmacy confidentiality rules. Nothing is shared with your GP without your agreement.

I'm worried about my eating or my relationship with food. Can you help?

Please come and talk to us, or speak to your GP. Clinical weight management isn't the right route in that situation, but we can point you towards the right support. Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity, also runs a helpline on 0808 801 0677.

Book a consultation

Pick a time, done.

Your first consultation takes around 30 minutes in a private room. Bring a list of your current medicines and any recent blood test results if you have them.
